Dealing with
Various Markets
In the summer time generally Craft fairs and
Outdoors festivals are there. Usually you get a
table for $20-$50 for the day at these events. A
good selection of inventory is required in you.
Which is there based on my experience, you can
usually gross anywhere between $150 & $400. And
if you have this, your quantity of inventory
will be directly related to your sales.
Check the local papers for Winter Bazaars,
Church Sales and Holiday Festivals between the
months of Oct to December. The tables are pretty
reasonably priced and there are many churches,
which have these annual events. People who come
and spend $ on gifts, make these events much
pleasing.
Now there are Home-based jewelry parties. You
can also host an event for yourself, or get a
friend host it for you for which you can give
her as compensation some free stuff. Although,
as a host I would like to have a good friend or
relative; where I am pretty sure they will
follow through. You can also ask your friend to
even invite her friends, relatives, etc. for the
party. Some light snacks can also be provided
and all your stuff can be brought. Again, there
would be no competition when people come to buy!
You will make out pretty fine if you get people
to one of these kinds, and also a large
selection is not required from you. I have done
this earlier and in an hour and half made up to
$1500! Typically, $300-$500 can be grossed in a
very small time.
Store/ mall-cart -- Since the overhead is so
high compared to the above venues, this is a
much bigger leap. I cannot offer any good
advice, as I have done neither of these, except
to consider all the costs involved and plan
really well.
3. Where to get from inventory for you?
The best research is required here. Probably to
get a markup of about 2.5 to 3 times (what you
paid for inventory) will be what you require,
unless you are selling in large volume. If you
pay lower price for your goods, the lower price
you can offer to your customers by which you
will make higher profits. Also when you buy in
bulk, you will always save more. Also look for a
supplier with whom a long-term relationship can
be formed and who can give you the best of
deals, service and range of varieties. It may
seem a big expense to buy in large quantities at
this point of time, but it will result in more
profits for sure on every single item that you
will sell.
In such cases, more will be saved if you spend
more. You should find few good suppliers who are
willing to work with you and see what sells
well. Also you should find suppliers who are
committed to your success and are providing good
services.
Buy off eBay- many of people here just buy and
re-sell stuff at good prices.
